I'm Tara Bowman, and I help current and aspiring Flathead Lake area residents buy and sell real estate in beautiful Polson, Western Montana!
I've been blessed to live in multiple amazing places in America … rugged, adventurous Alaska, where I've learned some serious survival skills … a hay farm in eastern Washington which taught me the values of hard work, tenacity and a strong spirit … but there is something very special about Polson. It was love that brought me here more than 20 years ago, and looking back, I could have never dreamed of living and raising a family in a place as beautiful as the Flathead Lake Area!

Montana is known for its big, open spaces. I guess that's why we call it Big Sky Country! Our beautiful lake, rivers, and breathtaking mountains bring outdoor enthusiasts from all over the world!
There's so much to do and experience here! Skiing, snowboarding, snow machining, hiking … with mountain peaks over 9,000' - some staying covered with snow year-round - you know you're in the right spot to make the best memories!
Something else you'll notice quickly is how friendly and kind people are out here! It's totally normal to have locals wave to everyone they pass on the road, even if they haven't met you yet … it's almost like people aren't in as much of a hurry here and know how to enjoy the Good Life fully!

on Flathead Lake
Flathead Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi in the lower 48 states, with over 200 square miles of water and 185 miles of shoreline. The water quality of the Flathead is one of the cleanest in the world.
Public lands around the Lake include a National Wildlife Refuge on the North Shore, six State Parks (including Yellow Bay) managed by Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks (FWP), and nine Fishing Accesses managed by FWP or the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes.
From swimming to fishing to whatever kind of boating or floating you're in to—motor-boating, stand-up paddle-boarding, kayaking or sailing—the exquisite waters reflecting snow capped peaks, forested slopes and our wild blue sky are nothing short of stunning year-round.
In the summer, roadside stands along the east shore offer a variety of locally grown cherries, apples, plums, and other fruits.
Winter on and around the lake is a wonderland of adventure. For downhill ski enthusiasts, Blacktail Mountain Ski Area (just west of Lakeside) offers a family-friendly mountain experience with excellent lake views.
Nordic skiers, snowshoers and snowmobilers enjoy numerous groomed and backcountry trails throughout the region. Even though the lake doesn't completely freeze over due to its size, ice fishing fun can be enjoyed on the bays that do freeze over. For a truly unique winter activity, try dog sledding.
